Flame wars, trollin, and inside jokes aside, here are some REAL concrete suggestions
1. How about a little banter.
We, the listener, listen to here you talk. So talk more. Honestly, this stems from the fact that you sound a lot like our friends (those of us who have them) and hearing our friends' voices makes us fell all happy and snugly and safe. (Metaphorically speaking of course)
2. Not exactly from real world, but kinda close.
This is just a little way to get listeners to "relate to you more" especially the newer ones who haven't known you forever and are just stepping in to the mmo podcast world. (hint: me) Throw in a little anecdote about something that happened in the world today, or to you today, or the freaking weather.
3. b...b...b...BONUS VIDEOS!!! or at least something similar
Throw in somethong entirely different into an episode. An episode dedicated entirely NOT to AIon. Give yourselves a chance to release an episode on a regular basis (thats the plan I hope) and if you dont have a real episode recorded, or if you don't feel like doing a regular episode, do something fun. Worst summer jobs, best song, favorite movies. Something like that. Have a Movie Night by telling the listeners that next week's show is going to be based off of forum posts (when you have a major booming forum it might get easier) and tell them to watch a certain movie and comment on the forum about it. It may take some fleshing out, but it's something that will make your lives easier, the podcast more enjoyable, and hopefully forestall burnout.
4. Gaming stories (ick)
Everybody loves to tell gaming stories. Everybody hates listening to gaming stories. I can't tell you how many time I've been at a con and some fatbeard says "This one time in my EverQuest campaign my blahdy blah blsh elf did blahddy blah that. And blah blah blah blah blah. and it was freakin AWESOME." Huh? Oh, Sorry, I fell asleep waiting for you to have a valid point. Now before you you get all hot and bothered, yes I know this is a podcast about gaming, and yes I understand that some gaming stories are necessary and inevitable, but they can be quick and painless and the point of telling them be reached sooner. ABOVE ALL don't tell useless gaming stories. If you do wave goodbye to the listeners you will lose. Bye mainstream people who might have listened to the show, BYE!!!
Thats all I've got for now,
Keep it icy
